The General Assembly
WACSOF aspires to promote efficiency and transparency in the way it manages its internal governance processes and how it relates with the outside, which has a strong bearing on its legitimacy and credibility. The Forum strives to ensure that decision-making is done in an inclusive, open, and transparent manner.
The General Assembly is the highest and supreme governance organ of the Forum comprised of all fully subscribed members of the Western Ankole Civil Society Forum. It is held annually and on a rotational basis in all its operational districts. It elects the Board and the Code of Conduct Committee and determines the Forum’s Policy direction.
The Board
The Board of Directors is the second highest organ of the Western Ankole Civil Society Forum, comprised of 9 members representing different constituencies – Districts, NGOs, Youth, Women, and PWDS.
The Board is elected by and at the Annual General Meeting to serve for a three-year term. It provides policy direction, facilitates the realization of the objectives, policies, and decisions of WACSOF as laid down by the General Assembly, and supervises the affairs of the Western Ankole Civil Society Forum. The Board is made of the following:
- The Chairperson
- Vice-Chairperson
- Treasurer
- Six Members elected from different constituencies
- The Executive Director is the Secretary to the Board
The Secretariat
The Secretariat is the operational arm of the Western Ankole Civil Society Forum responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Forum including the execution of the programmes and activities of the Organisation.
It is composed of a team of professional staff that provide technical expertise. The Executive Director heads the WACSOF Secretariat. Below is the current WACSOF staff.
District CSO Coordination Committees
WACSOF operates in such a way that its work responds to processes that relate to the decentralization policy. To be able to ensure coordination of CSOs, information sharing, and learning at local council levels, WACSOF has established Civil Society Coordination Committees at the district level in its operational districts.
