About the Organization
Community Volunteer Initiative for Development (COVOID) is a national indigenous child-focused NGO registered with the Uganda Government (Ministry of Internal Affairs). COVOID was founded in April 2003 by development-oriented community members to act as a voice in addressing the identified community issues of HIV/AIDS, ignorance, poverty, food insecurity, child abuse, environmental degradation in South Western Uganda
COVOID further derives its mandate from UNCRC (1989) and we promote the implementation and operationalization of the United Nations Convention for the Rights of the Children COVOID also contributes to the realization of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
COVOID implements programs in two contexts- Humanitarian context- COVOID implements a program with Congolese/ Sudanese refugees in Isingiro and development contexts- COVOID implements programs in non-humanitarian Districts such as Bushenyi, Rubirizi, Ntungamo, etc
COVOID is a member of the National NGO Forum and a member of the National SDG reference group. The organization prides itself in a decade and a half of the good track record in implementing human development Programs in South Western Uganda with support from Donors/ Development Partners such UPHOLD/USAID, Stromme Foundation, CARE International USAID/Core, NIKE Foundation, UNFPA, FK Norway, SCORE/USAID, FAO, United Nations Millenium Campaign, Newyork, AWO international/BMZ Germany Government, etc

Vision: COVOID envisages a Uganda where communities are empowered to provide for the rights of children and women.
Mission: COVOID mission is to strengthen community capacities to provide for the rights of children and women.
Objectives:
- To strengthen health care systems in partnership with Ministry of Health to deliver effective and sustainable health services to 35,000 individuals, families and communities by 2022.
- To promote Gender equality and human rights by empowering women and girls realize their rights to full potential.
- To supplement government efforts through the Ministry of Education and related structures in fostering inclusive and equitable quality education including vocational skills and enterprise development for children and youth by 2022.
- To enhance community capacity to mitigate and adapt to climate change and resilience adaptation for sustainable development by 2022.
- To improve food, income and nutrition security, of 52000 households in the Districts of operation.
- To strengthen COVOID’s policies and systems for effective and efficient service delivery by 2022.

- Mitooma district (Mitooma TC, Kashenshero SC, Kashenshero TC, Mutaara, Bitereko, Kiyanga, Kanyabwanga and Katenga).
- Rubirizi district (Rutooto, Ryeru, Rubirizi T/C, Magambo, Kichwamba, Katunguru, Kirugu, Katerera T/C, Katerera S/C, Kyabakara and Katanda s/c).
- Sheema district (Kitagata TC, Kitagata SC, Masheruka, Shuuku, Kabwohe, Kagango, Kyangyenyi, Kigarama, and Sheema central).
- Buhweju district in Engaju S/C.
- Ntungamo district (Rukoni West, Rukoni East, Ngoma, Rweikiniro, Kayonza, Rubaare, Ihunga, Kibatsi, Ntungamo, Nyabihoko).
- Bushenyi District (Bitooma, Kyamuhunga S/C, Kyamuhunga T/C, Nyabubare and Ishaka division).
- Isingiro district in Kashumba S/C.
