About the Organization
Bunyaruguru Environmental Conservation Association (BECA) is a not-for-profit Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) registered in 2012 to operate in Rubirizi District South Western Uganda. BECA’s current membership is 65 persons (43 Women and 22 men). The organization has three areas of work namely; – Advocacy, Economic empowerment and livelihood improvement, Environment and Natural Resource conservation. BECA works in collaboration with Rubirizi District Local Government, WACSOF, and other stakeholders that share similar objectives.

Vision: To have good governance for improved livelihoods through sustainable development with ease.
Mission: Our mission is to promote democratic governance in relation to environmental protection and conservation among rural communities for sustainable community development.
Objectives:
- To develop programmes that improve human rights at all levels
- To promote livelihoods of vulnerable groups of people(women, youth, elderly, pregnant, etc.
- To promote community awareness and prevention of violence against women as an action to end gender-based violence.
- To promote and support Environmental/natural resources sustainability.
- To promote and support initiatives that enhance social-economical development and improve the incomes of households in the communities.
- To develop strategies to improve democratic governance in the communities for sustainable future generations.
- To promote HIV/AIDS prevention, care, and psych-social support amongst families and communities affected by the HIV/AIDS epidemic.
Area of operation (District(s) and Subcounty(s): Rubirizi district in all the eleven sub-counties, Ryeru sub-county, Rubirizi Town Council, Kichwamba, Rutoto, Katunguru, Magambo, Kirugu, Katerera Town Council, Katanda, Katerera and Kyabakara.
